Four Card Keno

Four tickets, one draw, and a lot of folklore. Here is what actually changes when you play four cards, computed exactly.

Four card keno grades up to four separate cards against the same 20 number draw. Each card keeps the exact odds and return it would have alone, the total wager scales by the card count, and cards that share numbers win and lose together. More cards change the cost of a draw and the shape of the swings. They never change the value of a single dollar wagered.

How four card keno works

Mark up to four cards of 2 to 10 spots each, wager on each card separately, and press play once. The machine draws one set of 20 numbers and grades all four cards against it, so four quarters become a dollar riding on every draw. Everything on a single card page still applies here, the odds per catch, the paytable rows, and the house edge math that turns pace into an hourly cost. Four card keno is standard on video keno machines and at licensed online sites.

The math that does not move

Expected returns add. Four cards cost four times as much and expect four times the return of one card, with no combination bonus and no coverage credit, because each card is graded alone against the same paytable. The figures below use the 6 spot row of our published video style table and are computed with exact combinatorics, the same math behind our paytable pages.

Overlap, the honest version

The famous four card setups build every card around a shared core of numbers. The math of that choice is simple and worth seeing plainly. A shared group either arrives or it does not, once per draw, and every card holding it moves together. Play four identical cards and you have simply made one bet four times bigger. Play four fully separate cards and results spread out about as smoothly as this game allows. Build four cards around a common core and you sit in between, long quiet stretches, then draws where several cards pay at once. All three layouts have identical expected return per dollar. Players who choose heavy overlap are choosing lumpier results, which is a legitimate taste in volatility. It is not an edge, and no arrangement of cards can become one.

Feel it before you fund it

The single card is the unit everything here multiplies, and you can run that unit free. Load the video style table in our simulator and give one card ten thousand draws, then picture four of those bankroll lines stacked and correlated. Our strategy tester runs different pick sets against identical draws, which settles overlap questions empirically. Lounge players get a similar coverage itch scratched by way tickets, the classic ancestor of multi card play, and the wider family tree lives on our types of keno page.

Frequently asked questions

Do four cards give better odds than one card?

No. Each card faces exactly the odds it would face alone, and the wager is four times bigger. Four cards buy more results per draw, never better ones. Anything that promises otherwise is selling volatility as advantage.

Should the four cards share numbers?

Sharing numbers ties the cards together, so they surge and sink as a group, while separate numbers spread results out. The expected return is identical either way. The choice is about how bumpy a ride you want, not about value.

What does four card keno cost to play?

The wager is per card per draw, so four cards at a quarter each cost a dollar every draw. At a few hundred draws an hour that is real money in motion, and our house edge page shows how to turn pace and paytable into an average hourly cost.

Can all four cards win on the same draw?

Yes, and with heavy overlap it happens in bunches, because one lucky draw pays every card holding the numbers that came in. The same coupling works in reverse on cold draws. A four number core shared by all four cards comes in solid about once in 326 draws and lifts everything built on it at once.

Where can I try four card keno free?

Our simulator plays one card at a time, the exact unit four card keno is built from, with the same video style paytable used in the examples on this page. Run the card you would copy four times, give it ten thousand draws, and multiply the picture by four.
